Hey! yes its time for summer parties and cocktails on the patio and what better way to give your look a sudden revamp than styling your hair in a different way? have fun with it! but dont over do it…
According to Glamour UK Magazine, “The spring/summer catwalks were awash with playful curls and one of our favourite looks of the season was on the runway at Sonia Rykiel. You can achieve this retro look by adding curls all over your head and then vigorously brushing them out. Fix with hairspray. .”
Of course vintage is not the only way to go. You can also get an effortless yet fashionable beach look by adding a few waves to the ends and texturizing with sea salt spray (See product review further down) or simply applying some light hair spray, remember this look its meant to look effortless so keep it simple.
I find particularly useful to use curling tongs or curling iron rather than sporting the old lady look with tons of curlers on my hair. I recommend Conair Professional Infinity 1 1/2inches… you want a big curl not a tiny one for this look so you need “fat” curling irons; this one is currently on sale I got it for $12 which is a complete bargain!! Please do use some product to prevent damage I use TRESemme Instant Heat Tammer (about $5) never leaves hair greasy, is very light and really helps! I love it and definitely recommend it specially if like me you use Curling Irons and/or straighteners.
For a super sophisticated look such as Katy Perry on her last GHD campaign you WILL need to have the curlers and not a fat curling iron… make sure you also have at hand some hair spray for which I recommend Fructis Hair Spray, ($3) not only because it smells divine but because is not as heavy and leaves hair looking very natural! I think this look works best for brunettes than blonds but is just a case of tastes.
So, what are you waiting for? … get curling!!
