Herbal Hair Rinse

Hello! As you well know (or not, if this is your first visit) I am a lover of all things Eco- friendly and clean. So I was looking for healthy non-chemical alternatives for my hair once again ( see previous post Green Beauty ) but this time I was in search of conditioners and rinses and I found this lovely one. It is simple and more than likely you have the ingredients at home as I did.

All you need is

  • fresh or dry rosemary
  • Dry lavender or a few drops or lavender essential oil ( I like the dry lavender better)
  • Water
  • a spoonful of apple cider vinegar (optional)

20130925-172024.jpgAll you need to do is to place the rosemary and lavender in a container and pour hot water (just like making tea) and leave to rest and brew for at least 1hr (although a couple of hrs works best). At this point add vinegar too if you are using it. Once is ready, drain the herbs out and use this water to rinse your hair after your normal shampoo and conditioner. You can also put into a spray type bottle and spray on after you come out of the shower.

Why Rosemary?Β  Rosemary is known to be a secret ingredient in a lot of hair products.Β  It stimulates hair growth and treats scalp conditions such as dandruff and psoriasis.

Why Lavender? because not only it smells lovely and relaxing but it is believed to nourish hair, moisturise scalp and strands and It has powerful antiseptic qualities treating dry scalp, fungi, bacteria, and other microbes.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar? it is said that ACV, can help balancing hair and scalp pH, removing product build-up, and treating dandruff and hair loss.

So there you have it! love the planet, love your hair! I will post recipe for Coconut Milk Conditioner soon ( I must dash to the supermarket to get the coconut milk and try it out first!)

Xoxo
