Oh wow! There it goes! 2013 is gone! Boom! I can’t believe we are here (December) once again so fast but man 2013 was simply amazing. I don’t usually write this type of posts because I don’t like to write about myself unless I think my post has an added value for my readers (such a recipe, a review or something) but I am going to take a minute to sit down and write about 2013.
I won’t list every single boring detail of my life; I’m not that self centered so don’t worry lol. In 2013 I graduated! I got my Masters degree in Communications which is a huge achievement. I grew not only professionally and academically but as a person as well. I have matured, and I have a much clearer vision of what I want to do with my professional life. I have to Thank my parents for giving me this wonderful opportunity and for helping me out so much since I moved to America. You see, I moved here after a divorce (a messy one… a psycho kind of ex-husband one) I needed a fresh start, a new horizon and more importantly I needed to find myself again. Mission accomplished! I am totally renewed, ready for anything life brings and full of positive energy! (and with a masters degree too!)
2013 I meet wonderful people. Some stayed in my life, some didn’t and some came back from the past. I visited South America after nearly 5 years! I reconnected with friends, ate fantastic food, walked the walk and talked the talk. I realized how much I have missed some people and how much I have forgotten about others. I found a part of myself I thought it had been lost.
My baby boy turned 8 years old! Wow 8! Some people ask me “can you believe he is 8?” you bet I can believe it I have been there every single day and night and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the wold. I love my son to bits, and we have been through a lot of things together which makes us a stronger team. He has matured into a very handsome and responsible little boy, and I can only hope I have the strength to continue being a good role model for him. I love you baby!
During 2013 I also found my spiritual path. I am not a religious person, but being religious and being spiritual isn’t the same thing. I find inner peace in nature and keeping in tune with the environment around me. I have learnt to follow the paths of nature, the seasons, the stages of life and the elements and this has made me whole again. Eat seasonal food, respect the power of nature, recharge within and look after the environment because we only have one planet. I am a tree huger and there is no shame, no denial. LOL.
2013, I have read more than 30 books! This is a new personal record. I am a book worm, I love to read and I must admit I love buying second hand (and new) books. I love the smell of books and the knowledge concentrated on each page. I can’t conceive a world without books, ink, and paper. (Sorry, I do have a Nook from Barnes & Noble but I keep finding myself buying proper books) I also took a seminar during my last semester at university about Genre fiction that opened my brain to a world of knowledge regarding books, authors, writing styles and commercial “literature”.
Another great achievement for 2013? becoming vegetarian-ish. Embracing the plant based diet, and making conscious choices when it comes to food. My son has always been semi- vegetarian (he eats chicken, and white flesh fish) So I decided to educate myself, read a lot about the vegetarian life style and its benefits and decided it was best for us to seek that path. It is harder for me because I have been a meat eater for so long, and it is even harder because I live with my parents and my dad can’t live without consuming meat, but slowly I am making my pro plant based choices and moving away from the consumption of meat and dairy.
Last but not least, all I have to say is I wish you all a very very happy New Year. May this be the year in which you make all those changes that are keeping you away from your goals. May this be a year filled with inner peace, happiness, balance, health and love.
